A Dixonville man has been jailed for aggravated assault after a verbal altercation turned physical last Saturday morning.
State police say 49-year-old Vonny Kaye Smith struck a male victim with a Louisville Slugger baseball bat, and also scratched him. It happened at 8:18 AM at a home along Purchase Line Road in Green Township.
Smith was taken into custody at the scene. He is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, along with simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned before District Judge Guy Haberl and ordered held at the Indiana County Jail, with bond set at $25,000.
CLYMER/WHITE TOWNSHIP
A Clymer man is the victim of a forger who used stolen checks to raid his account of more than $900. State police say the theft was discovered last Wednesday. Six checks belonging to Joseph Gillo were cashed at various locations in White Township. The total loss is $970.07. The investigation continues, with police declining to say if there is a suspect.
