Alice (Hand) Garvin, 89, of Blairsville, PA died Monday, April 30, 2018 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.
Alice was born November 28, 1928 Johnstown, PA to Charles Lee Hand and Bertha (St. Clair) Hand.
Alice was a retired bank officer at the National Bank of the Commonwealth. Alice was a member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Blairsville where she was the organist for many years. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers, especially roses. She was a member of the IUP Faculty Wives, the Indiana County Historical Society and the Clan Sinclair Association.
Alice is survived by daughters Barbara A. Madaj (husband Edmund, Manchester, MI) and Susan Lee Rubal (husband Anthony, Round Hill, VA); grandchildren Barbara Ann Key (husband David, Holly Springs , NC), Stephanie Rubal, Winchester, VA: great grand children Elizabeth Ann, Lauren & Tyler Key, Holly Springs, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her father Charles Lee Hand, her mother Bertha (St. Clair) Hand, her husband Clarence “Alex” Garvin in 2014, and sister Louise Robson, Sara Cullen and Lucy Aliquo.
In keeping with Alice’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 05, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Arthur C. Dilg will officiate.
Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
