Former Ligoiner Valley standout Alec Bloom has signed a free-agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. The 6-6, 254 pound tight end graduated from UConn in December. He was a tremendous receiver in high school but was used mostly as a blocker in UConn’s offense.
Tight end is a position of need for the Cardinals, who drafted no tight ends. They also signed free agent Andrew Vollert of Weber State. Nine-year veteran Jermaine Gresham is coming off a knee injury. The roster includes four other tight ends, whose total output in their NFL careers is only one reception.
