The Homer-Center baseball team won both of its games Saturday in the 2018 Homer-Center Baseball Classic.
The Wildcats defeated Marion Center in first game, 8-5, and it was also counted as a Heritage Conference game. In the second game, Homer-Center beat Derry, 10-2.
Jayke Saiani picked up the pitching game in the first game on four innings and seven strike outs. He gave up just one earned run. In offensive support, Canyon Rankin, Jesse Lee and Nate Davis each had two hits. Lee, who would be named tournament MVP, hit a double and triple and drove in one run. Davis also had a double and one RBI.
Dylan Goss took the loss for the Stingers and had two hits. Marion Center’s Matt Gaston smacked three hits and drove in three runs.
Homer-Center staged a 15-hit attack against Derry. Corey Cavalier led the way with three hits and he scored three runs. Lee, Rankin, Dakota Sunday and Austin Perry added two hits each.
Davis pitched four innings for the win. He struck out four and up just one earned run.
Joe Lynch took the loss for Derry. Ryan Bushey led the Trojans with three hits.
Homer-Center improved to 8-0 on the season, including 6-0 in the conference. They play host to United on Monday.
