Indiana School District is expected to name former Purchase Line standout and former Dragons Head Coach Brandon Overdorff to guide the Lil Indians football program during a special Indiana School District Board of Directors meeting Monday night.
The hiring came within 10 minutes of happening this past Monday, but was tabled for a week while the agreement was finalized.
Overdorff coached at Purchase Line from 2012 to 2016 and compiled a 21-29 record, although the record is misleading and he systematically rebuilt the program.
A 1991 graduate of Purchase Line, he rushed for 4,012 yards in his career from 1988 to 1990 under then-Coach Ed Dalton, a county record that stood until 2012 when it was broken by former Penns Manor Comets quarterback Danny Ferens.
Overdorff led Purchase Line to its only District 6 football championship in 1990.
Overdorff would replace John Allen Snyder. Snyder was coach during a tumultuous 2-8 season in 2017.
Renda Broadcasting Sports Director Jack Benedict originally had an interview lined up with Overdorff last Tuesday, but that interview will now take place Monday night or Tuesday as we will have a lot more on Overdorff’s hiring and the challenges he faces as he works to turn around another program.
