In Indiana County Court today, there are a number of defendants scheduled for sentencing, and a larger number of defendants who will plead and be sentenced for crimes. Most of them are cases of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
One defendant, 35-year-old Erica Atkins of McKees Rocks in Allegheny County, will be sentenced for a guilty plea to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. In a plea bargain, a second count of that offense will not be prosecuted, nor will two counts of possession of a controlled substance, along with possession of a small amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia.
Of the 29 other cases on the schedule today, 27 of them are DUI cases, one is a simple possession case, and one is for careless driving and related offenses.
