As the summer driving season gets closer, gas prices are beginning to once again increase.
Gas Prices in the Indiana County area are averaging $2.99 a gallon, which is 4 cents higher than the statewide average at $2.95 a gallon for regular unleaded gas. The statewide average now is four cents higher than it was during the peak time last year after Hurricane Harvey, and 30 cents more than it was a year ago.
With gas stations getting ready to switch over to more expensive summer blends of gasoline, Triple-A is saying the statewide average of gas could get to $3 a gallon by the time summer hits.
