Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner was in Indiana yesterday for a campaign stop.
Wagner, the current State Senator representing the 28th Senate District, made a campaign stop at the Artist Hand to meet members of the public and discuss issues with them. Wagner said that he appreciates being able to go across the state to towns like Indiana to meet the people.
Wagner said that one of his key platform planks was the opioid and heroin addiction problems that are going on in the state. He said that if he is elected, he will not wait to be sworn in to handle this issue. He said that if he is elected, during his time as Governor-Elect, he will pull together district attorneys, law enforcement officials and victims and their families from across the state to meet on how to tackle the issue.
Wagner also discussed the problems with the state budget, and the fact that Tom Wolf has not signed off on a budget in three years. Wagner discussed his strategy to get the state out of some of the financial problems it is in. Calling his policy a “zero base budgeting” technique, he will go to each state agency and get the exact expenses for the state and “balance the checkbook”. He feels that $1.5 million to $4 million could be found with this technique.
Wagner is running with Jeff Bartos as his running mate. The Primary election will be held May 15th.
