While we are seeing sunny skies and warm temperatures today, the National Weather Service is looking ahead to the start of next week which could bring some flooding to the area.
A flood watch has been put into effect for 1:06 PM Monday to 3:07 AM Tuesday as a lot of rain is expected to come into our area. The watch has been imposed for the Conemaugh River at Seward, which would affect Indiana and Westmoreland Counties. An intense storm system is currently over the area of Kansas and Oklahoma will begin moving eastward today, and by Saturday, it will start spreading showers across the region. Lee Hendricks with the National Weather Service said that many of the forecast patterns are in agreement, which is unusual for the forecast this far in advance.
The rain is not only expected to affect the Conemaugh River, but area streams and creeks as well.
