The Indiana School District continued the process to find a new superintendent, and last night, the district’s citizens got the chance to ask their own questions.
Mike Vuckovich was on hand for a Q&A session last night at the Indiana Senior High School. Vuckovich is currently the interim superintendent of the Greater Johnstown School District, and last night, he fielded questions submitted by the public on several topics ranging from improving math grades to adding teachers at the last minute. One of the topics that came up frequently was the Summit Learning platform. He said that while it is not a catch-all for students, the option should be available for students who want to use that platform to learn. He said he wasn’t surprised by the fact that topic came up multiple times. He had seen videos of prior school board meetings in his preparation for the interview process for the job, and was happy that the citizens had brought up the topic last night and looks forward to tackling the issue further if he was hired.
Vukovich was also asked what he would do in his first month as district superintendent if he was hired. He said he would be doing a lot of listening.
No word if the district will have future Q&A sessions. The district’s current superintendent, Dale Kirsch, will retire at the end of the school year.
