The Indiana Fire Association has announced that there is a phone scam going on throughout the area that are encouraging people to donate to local fire departments.
In a statement on their Facebook page, the Fire Association said that they have received word that there have been several automated calls that are soliciting funds for “local fire departments”. The Indiana Fire Association does not participate in these fund drives and does not receive any funding from those drives.
They remind Indiana citizens that they only hold one fundraiser, and that is a letter-based campaign in the fall where the fire department sends letters to 13,000 homes and businesses in their service area.
