The high winds have affected power for many people in the county.
Earlier today, REA Energy reported that over 500 of their customers in Indiana County were without power this morning due to downed wires, with many of the outages occurring near the Smithport substation, which serves the northern part of Indiana County along with portions of Jefferson County. Power in that area has been restored.
REA also reports that larger outages in the area of Mary Ann Hill and Cookport road have been restored, but there are still scattered outages throughout that area and more outages could be possible.
Power outages have also been reported by Penelec in the Clymer and Glen Campbell areas, with between 500 and 1500 customers affected in those areas. Penelec has started work on restoring power in those areas, but they do not say when power will be completely restored.
