No injuries or significant damage was reported for a fire at the Indiana Theater in Downtown Indiana this morning.
Indiana Fire Association Crews were called out around 6:45 this morning for a report of smoke discovered in the structure, and crews eventually found fire in the ceiling of the fifth floor. Indiana Fire Chief Paul Koonz said the fire may be electrical in nature, but that is not the confirmed cause as of yet. The fire crew had to pull out a lot of insulation as part of their investigation, but said the damage was moderate in nature. Koonz said they were lucky that someone made a quick call to the fire department. Someone who works in those offices went in at 6:45 or so and noticed the smell of smoke. When they investigated on the 4th floor, they found the smoke was thick. At that point, the man got out and called the fire department.
Crews were on scene for about two hours. Insurance agents are now investigating the building to find out how much damage was done.
