PennDOT has announced more traffic pattern changes as construction season begins to ramp up over the next few weeks.
Daylight traffic pattern changes will happen in the area of the Route 119 Three Bridges project near Homer City. The new traffic pattern, which goes into effect April 9th, will consist of Route 119 Northbound traffic switching to the southbound lanes between Route 56 and Luzerne Road, with one lane of traffic in each direction. This is expected to remain in effect until July. As part of that effort, East Church Street will be closed to traffic for the duration of the project.
Work on the project includes the rehabilitation of the bridge carrying 119 over Yellow Creek and the removal of structures that carry 119 over Tide Road and an abandoned private railroad. Tide road will become an at-grade intersection with route 119 north at that point. Route 119 will also be widened and a concrete barrier will be installed to separate traffic on the stretch of 119 between Route 56 and the new connector road at the Homer City Sheetz. Also, the traffic signal at 119 and 56 will be replaced.
The project is being worked on by Swank Construction Company, and is expected to be completely finished by late fall of 2019.
