Kenneth E. Byers, 85, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Clarence Merle and Beulah Juanita Jacoby Byers, he was born July 29, 1932, in Indiana.
Mr. Byers had been a resident of Indiana all of his life. He was a graduate of Indiana High School and he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Byers had worked as a machinist at Fisher Scientific, retiring after 36 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Indiana V.F.W. Post 1989, and the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local 1582. Mr. Byers enjoyed working outdoors, gardening and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Walker Byers, of Indiana; three children: Barbara Blazosky and husband John, of Brookville; Edward Byers and wife Allyson, of Grove City; and Amy Soffa and husband Jim, of Raleigh, NC.; a sister, Naomi Mae “Tootie” Jones and husband James, of Indiana; five grandchildren: Ryan Blazosky, Jessica Smith and her husband, Matt; Aric Aiken, Peyton Byers and Logan Byers; four great-grandchildren: Jayden Blazosky, Gavin Blazosky, Chase Smith and Cash Smith; a niece, Richla McCurdy and husband Gary, of Homer City; and great niece and great nephew, Kimberly McCurdy and Kevin McCurdy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Thompson Byers; a brother, Clarence Merle Byers, Jr.; and a sister, Joanna Stiles.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Golden officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
