The issue of school security was brought up last night at the Indiana School Board meeting.
The board was updated on a timeline to get some security audit proposals to be performed later this year. When this was initially put together, it was last July, so the board wanted to develop further ideas to implement into their security plans before the next school year starts in September. As far as additional security at the school is concerned, the issue wasn’t discussed publicly. Board President Walter Schroth said that they’re not finished discussing that issue, but they don’t want to give away what strategies they are discussing, as they don’t want those with bad intentions to find out what is being done.
In other business, the board was given the first presentation of their budget for the 2018-2019 school year. Preliminary numbers show $56,261,271 in expenditures and $54,090,860 in revenues, leaving a budget imbalance of $2,170,411. Those budget projections include no tax increases for the district. The district has until late May to put together their preliminary budget for the district, so that it can be advertised properly for adoption in late June. The materials from the budget presentation are on the districts website, www.iasd.cc
