Indiana Borough Police have announced drug charges related to a Christmas Night incident at an apartment on Water Street.
Police were dispatched shortly before 10:30 PM on December 25th for a complaint of marijuana odors emanating from an upstairs apartment at 1384 Water Street. They confirmed the smell of marijuana and inside the apartment they found five people. After gaining consent to search the apartment, they found two pounds of marijuana, .6 grams of MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine), and various items of drug paraphernalia.
Criminal complaints have now been filed charging 21-year-old Anthony Franco of New Derry with felony possession with intent to deliver and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The other four people at the apartment that night, 21-year-old Tosha Galloway, 21-year-old Cameron Contrucci, 20-year-old Rebecca Carnahan, and 21-year-old Ronnie Yocum Jr., are all charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Galloway, Contrucci, and Carnahan are all listed as being from Indiana. Yocum is from Dresden, Ohio.
All of the suspects were charged before District Judge Guy Haberl.
– An Indiana man is charged with possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness, and resisting arrest after an incident on Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of Church Street.
Borough Police were summoned for a report of a man lying face down on the ground, and they found 22-year-old Zaid Al Shalani, who they say was under the influence of a controlled substance. While they were taking him into custody, he put up a fight, and they found suspected cocaine on him. He was subdued and taken to the Indiana County Jail.
The charges were filed before Judge Guy Haberl.
