The Pirates played their first night game of the Spring last night in Fort Myers, Florida against the Twins. The Bucs managed just four hits in a 3-1 loss. Starter Trevor Williams struck out eight while giving up two runs, one earned, in five and a third innings.
The Pirates host the Blue Jays in Bradenton for another night game tonight, with Chad Kuhl on the mound. You’ll hear it on WCCS, FM 101.1 and AM 1160.
Opening Day for the Pirates is just a week away. Pittsburgh will start the regular season next Thursday on the road against the Tigers in Detroit, with Ivan Nova getting the start. Manager Clint Hurdle has not said yet how he expects to line up the rotation, but has said that Jameson Taillon will start the home opener on April 2nd against the Twins.
