The Penguins entered last night’s game against the last-place Islanders with four days of rest, and with starting goaltender Matt Murray back between the pipes for the first time in three weeks. Murray played well, but the rest of the team let him down, as the Islanders stopped their three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win. Murray stopped 36 shots in the loss. Conor Sheary scored the only Penguins goal.
The Pens return to PPG Paints Arena tonight for a 7 o’clock start against Montreal. Pittsburgh is tied with Columbus for second place in the Metropolitan Division, four points behind Washington. The Canadiens are 6th in the Central Division.
