The Penguins hit the ice after an extended break to take on the Islanders at the Barclays Center tonight. Pittsburgh has not played since last Thursday. The Pens are second in the Metropolitan Division with 87 points, two behind the Capitals and only two ahead of Columbus and Philadelphia which are tied in third place. The Islanders have lost 11-of-12 and are last in the Metro with 70 points.
The Penguins are set to get back a key piece as the final push for the playoffs heats up. Starting goalie Matt Murray is expected to return from concussion and could be in net tonight in Brooklyn. Murray has missed the past three weeks after taking a shot off his mask in practice. The Penguins reassigned Tristan Jarry to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
