Plea Court is scheduled today for a Homer City woman originally admitted to Indiana County’s ARD program in a case in which she’s accused of stealing from a Homer City man and woman in 2016.
35-year-old Shelly Yvone Mack was charged with stealing and activating a debit card owned by a 60-year-old man and 53-year-old woman in April of 2016, and over the next six days, ringing up more than $2,100 in charges to that account in Indiana Borough, White, Buffington, Pine, and East Wheatfield townships, and in Cambria County. She was entered into the Accelerated rehabilitative Dispostion program, but in January, District Attorney Pat Dougherty asked the court to terminate ARD and reinstate the thirteen counts of felony access device fraud and a single misdemeanor count of theft. That request was granted, and Mack is due in court today.
Jury selection is scheduled today for the trial of 25-year-old Jeremy Stone of Millay Circle, in the Poet’s Village housing complex in White Township. Stone is charged in two cases involving an Indiana Borough police officer.
He’s charged with aggravated assault and retaliation against a witness or victim – both felonies – plus recklessly endangering, simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct for a confrontation with off-duty Borough Police Officer Adam Lewis at the 4th Street Sheetz store on August 23rd. In a separate case that police say is related to Stone’s attack on Lewis, he’s charged with resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension, two counts of disorderly conduct, and prohibited use of a bicycle, roller blades, or a skateboard on August 19th.
Stone was involved in a January incident at Poets Village when the body of Shakita Nicole Evans was found outside of an apartment. She’d apparently slipped on some ice and Stone found her. He called 911 and later told police he and Evans had been smoking marijuana together in their apartment. He is not charged related to Evans’ death, but is charged with possession after police executed a search warrant on the apartment.
