Martha Edna Adams Truitt, 92, of New Castle, formerly of Rayne Township, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at The Haven Convalescent Home, Inc., in New Castle. Her sister Blanche had been entrusted with her care.
A daughter of the late Merle J. Adams and Ruth Adams Putt, she was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Rayne Township, with 2 inches of snow on the ground.
Mrs. Truitt had worked at Musser Nursery for over fifty years.
She is survived by a brother, Merret Adams, of Indiana County; and sisters: Nancy Willover, of Texas; Susie Hile, of Grove Chapel; Blanche Hockenberry, of Ellwood City; and Judy Huey, of Homer City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Truitt, whom she married on June 18, 1947; five brothers: Watson, Albert, Franklin, Alfred and Dale Adams; and one sister, Ida Adams.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, with Pastor James Hockenberry officiating. Martha will be buried next to her husband in Ruffner Cemetery.
