The Indiana Area School Board meets tonight, with a number of personnel items on the agenda, including the elimination through attrition of three elementary teaching positions. The moves would be made due to class size guidelines.
Also tonight, the board will consider a motion by Tamara Leeper to have the policy committee develop guidelines to thoroughly vet programs and projects when community members, especially those with expertise in a certain area, raise concerns or provide the board with information that might raise a red flag on a project or a program that either is being considered or has already been implemented.
The agenda also includes next year’s school calendar and consideration of Indiana’s portion of the ARIN Intermediate Unit’s operating budget.
At a special session on Saturday, the Building, Grounds & Transportation Committee discussed strategies for meeting the maintenance needs of the six school buildings within the district. Those discussions could come up at tonight’s meeting as well.
Purchase Line’s school board meets tonight as well. At a work session last week, the board approved placing the hiring of a Clerk of the Works for the district’s window replacement project.
