Besides changing your clocks this weekend the state fire commissioner’s office is urging you to do something else.
Acting State Fire Commissioner Bruce Trego says in addition to changing their clocks, its a good time for Pennsylvania residents to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. He says people should know what types of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors they have in their homes, especially if they have “lifetime” batteries.
Rego says a working smoke detector can reduce the risk of dying in a house fire by 50 percent while a properly functioning carbon monoxide detector can also save lives. People are urged to test smoke and CO detectors on a monthly basis and replace them if they’re more than 10 years old.
