IUP is getting ready to host the Pennsylvania Academy of Sciences for a special meeting at the KCAC.
Over 400 speech and poster presentations will be part of the 94th annual event, which will bring undergrad and graduate students from across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. A total of 33 presentations will be made by IUP students, with another 10 by graduate students and 19 faculty members will co-present with the students. The students are part of the biology, chemistry and geoscience departments.
As part of the conference, there will be a special panel with scientists in various areas of expertise discussing career options with undergraduate students. All five members of that panel have a connection to IUP. They include IUP alumna Derek Fairman, IUP Environmental advisory board member Charles Bove, IUP Biology professors Dr. Jeff Larkin and Dr. Tom Simmons, and IUP Geoscience professor Dr. Steve Hovan. The featured speaker will be 2007 Nobel Peace Prize co-recipient Dr. Richard Alley, who will present on the topic “Learning from ‘Pennsylvania Desert’: Historical insights to our energy future”.
The event will be March 23rd to the 25th at the KCAC.
