WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
In Indiana County Court today, a number of defendants are scheduled for sentencing, most of them for drug charges. Two of the cases, however, are for other crimes.
40-year-old Samuel Zvara, formerly from Saltsburg and now listed as being from Westmoreland City, pleaded guilty in December to arson and simple assault, in a plea bargain in which another count of arson, along with charges of reckless burning and criminal mischief will not be prosecuted. Zvara assaulted a 39-year-old Woman at a home along Iselin Road in Young Township last May. He later set the home on fire.
43-year-old Michael Shawn Bernd of Glen Campbell pleaded guilty to simple assault in exchange for non-prosecution on charges of strangulation, two counts of terroristic threats, and harassment. The charges were related to an incident in September involving a 38-year-old woman who had a protection from abuse order against Bernd.
Drug defendants who are scheduled to be sentenced today include:
- Ursula Guntrum of Indiana, for possession with intent to deliver in two separate cases.
- Robert Peiffer of Blairsville, for possession with intent to deliver, also in two separate cases.
- Andrew Rankin of Creekside, for possession with intent to deliver, endangering the welfare of children, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance, and corruption of minors.
- Quashon Littlejohn of Pittsburgh, for possession with intent to deliver and prohibited possession of a firearm.
There are also six revocation hearings today, and Plea Court in six cases.
