Bill Kelly, 84 of Homer City, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana. Born in Indiana, July 23, 1933, he was the son of the late, Kenneth W. Kelly and Bertha (Wagner) Kelly. He was married to Alice (King) Meese Kelly for 19 years.
He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Bill worked as an Indiana County Deputy Sheriff for 17 years. In addition to that he owned and operated the Mad Dog Detective Agency in Homer City. He was also a State Constable for many years.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Rhododendron Lodge # 033 where he had previously served as the Chaplain.
Bill enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He loved watching and following baseball games, watching football games and cheering for the Steelers. He especially liked being with his wife, Alice and traveling with her on mini-trips to places like Lancaster, Nashville and seeing family in Parkersburg, WV.
He was a member of the Homer City Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters: Kristy Lynn, Karen Lee, Mary Kay, Kari Sue, Casey Ann, and Kourtney Elaine. His step-children are: Rodney Allen, Linda Joan, David Marshall, and Larry Norman. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren. His other survivor is his sister, Jayne “Petsy” Henry.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two grandsons.
Friends will be received Monday, March 12th from 11 AM until 1:00 PM, the time of the funeral service at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana. Pastor Chuck Lockard will officiate with the assistance of Bill’s nephew, Pastor Kal Henry. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
