The Penguins are back in first place in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division after a 5-2 win last night over Philadelphia.
The Pens lost two players to injury in the game. Winger Bryan Rust suffered an upper body injury and fellow winger Dominic Simon had a lower body injury. Both will be evaluated today.
Sidney Crosby is rated the best player in the NHL in the annual poll of the NHL Players Association members. Crosby finished first in six categories, including most difficult player to play against, most difficult forward to play against, player you’d want on your team if you had to win one game, best role model, best team player, and current player who would make the best coach.
When asked to name all-time greats, the NHL players chose Wayne Gretzky number one forward, followed by three Penguins, Mario Lemieux, Sidney Crosby, and Jaromir Jagr. Paul Coffey finished fourth among all-time defensemen. Finally, when asked to name one player they would like to have as a teammate, Gretzky was number one, Crosby number two, and Lemieux number three.
