The snow this morning is causing some traffic tie ups with motor vehicle accidents reported throughout the area.
PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel this morning, but those going out on major highways can expect some poor road conditions, so you may want to travel slower this morning to be safe, and allow yourself some extra time.
A crash was reported on Route 85 between Ambrose Road and Five Points Road in Washington Township at 7:05 this morning. Plumville and Marion Center fire departments are on-scene for that crash. We’ve been told by a listener that the road has partially reopened, as the East Bound lane has reopened for traffic.
A second crash in that area was reported, between Sagamore and Byer on Route 210 with Plumville fire department called out once again.
A third accident was reported on Route 553 near the Penns Manor School District Complex at 8:20 this morning. Scanner reports say that there were two vehicles that went off the road with one hitting a tree. No injuries were reported in that accident, and Cherryhill Township fire department is on the scene.
A fourth crash was reported at 8:33 on Hood School Road near Fyock Road. Again, no entrapment or injuries were reported in that crash. And a fifth one was reported at 8:42 on Cloe-Rossiter Road in Jefferson County. Rossiter fire department is responding to that crash.
The road conditions are getting to the point where Armstrong School District has sent a message to parents saying school buses may be delayed this morning. If parents in the Armstrong School district feel it’s too dangerous for them to wait for the bus, then the student’s absence will be counted as an “excused” absence.
Also, Indiana County Transit Authority has cancelled their Route 7 weekly bus that goes to Plumville due to the inclement weather.
