Construction on a bridge that carries Cherry Run Road over Cherry Run’s north branch will start in about two weeks.
The bridge in Burrell Township, Armstrong County is part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement program to bring the bridge up to standards and take it off the structurally deficient bridge list. Drivers will be instructed to use a detour along Garett’s Run Road and Shale Road during the construction time. Construction will start March 19th and will continue through early May, but that schedule could change if the weather turns bad.
The Cherry Run Road Bridge is one of 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement project, which is a public-private partnership between PennDOT and Plenary-Walsh Keystone Partners. Under the agreement, Plenary-Walsh will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years.
