At last night’s Center Township Supervisors meeting, the supervisors talked about some of the damage from the recent heavy rains that came through Indiana County.
Flooding was reported in several areas in the county, and that included Red Barn Road, which according to Supervisors Chairman Dave “Butch” Smyers, sustained a fair amount of damage. Smyers classified the damage as a “blow-out” of the pipe, and was hopeful they would be able to put shovels in the ground today to start work, but it is dependent on the weather.
That was not the only flood-related story, as supervisors reported of a few incidents where their pipes were blocked and roads washed out, because of some firewood and railroad ties were placed too close to creeks and the wood was washed off the banks and into the pipes. Those pipes have since been cleared.
