Law enforcement officials called Saturday a tragic day in Indiana County as two apparent domestic incidents resulted in two people being killed.
The first incident was reported at 2:45 AM Saturday morning, as troopers were called out for a report of a Burglary in Progress at 1344 Hill Drive. Troopers found on scene that Stacy Arnold Livingston, a 48-year-old Blairsville resident, was dead due to a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigation revealed that Livingston had two protection from abuse orders recently filed against him, evicting him from the Hill Drive home. This morning, he returned to the residence and forced open a basement window to gain entry. Five family members were in the house at the time, and State Police Public Information Officer Cliff Greenfield said that police believe that one of the family members fired the fatal shot. Livingston was apparently involved in a fight with the family members in the house and one of the adults fired one shot at Livingston, hitting him in the chest.
The person who did fire that shot was taken into custody, interviewed by troopers and later released. No charges have been filed and no suspects have been sought.
The second incident was reported at 8:15 AM in the 300 block of Saddlebrook Drive in White Township. In this case, troopers responding to a stabbing or shooting incident found a 59-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man, both from Indiana, with apparent stab wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was life-flighted to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition. The investigation revealed the two were in an argument that turned violent and resulted in the stabbings. The woman then went next door to call for help.
The name of the dead person in the Saddlebrook incident is being withheld until the Coroner can finish his examination.
Indiana County District Attorney Pat Dougherty said that it was the quick response time by Citizen’s Ambulance that may have saved the woman’s life, and he also applauded the state police for their quick response even as they were still dealing with the incident in Blairsville. Dougherty himself was at the barracks working with state police on the first incident when the Saddlebrook incident was called in. Manpower was stretched thin due to the previous investigation, but troopers were able to respond quickly to start the second investigation.
As these cases are both classified as domestic violence cases, the victims’ names have not been released. Also as both are still active investigations, more information will be released at a later time.
