At his campaign kick off last night, Congressional Candidate Dave Reed said that no matter what happens with the US congressional districts in Pennsylvania, he will not put his hat in the ring for the State House.
Reed held his kickoff event last night at Indiana’s VFW, and invited his fellow republicans running for positions on the state and local levels to collect petition signatures during the event. When asked if he had any backup plans, Reed said that he has moved on from the state house. When he made the decision to run for congress, Reed said his heart had moved on from the state house and he had to follow his heart on this issue.
As far as where Reed has to campaign, that’s still up in the air. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the current district map and created a new one. Their map puts Indiana County in a 13-county mega-district. That map has been challenged at the US Supreme Court by Republican State Lawmakers, and they have also asked the Supreme Court to delay the new map’s implementation. US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has asked all parties involved to file briefs in this matter, and they have until 3:00 PM Monday to do so.
