The Marion Center school board voted on various personnel items and approved the first reading of some updated school policies at Monday night’s meeting.
The board approved the hiring of a new part time Nutrition Services employee, as well as an additional professional substitute, and three elementary volunteers. The board also approved several new supplemental and volunteer coaches. Brad Smith was approved as Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Luke Sitosky as Head Jr High Football Coach. Three additional football coaches, a baseball coach, and a softball coach were approved as volunteers.
In other business, the board approved the first reading of updated policies, including Nondiscrimination, Hazing, and the Suicide Awareness, Prevention, and Response policy. According to Superintendent Clint Weimer, there are no major modifications to the policies, just minor revisions and language changes at the recommendation of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.
Lastly, the board changed May 11th from an Emergency Weather Day to a regular school day to compensate for the closing on February 7th.
