The Indiana School Board heard from the County Office of Planning and Development on what could be a new businesses moving into the area.
The board heard a presentation from Byron Stauffer from Planning and Development concerning a possible business coming to Windy Ridge business park. While Stauffer could not say the name of the company that could potentially move there as that’s still under negotiations, he said it would be an assembly and distribution plant, and it would bring a lot of jobs to the county.
After the presentation, the school board approved extending the Keystone Opportunity Zone for an additional ten years, which provides tax abatement to the business on the local level. Stauffer also said they entered into a Payment in Lieu of Taxes agreement, so that all the local taxes owed to the district would be paid to them. The district would also enter into a committee to create a tax increment finance plan. All of the efforts would make the Windy Ridge Property more appealing to the business interested in moving in there.
