Barbara “Barb” Joan (McCombs) Lechner, 84, of Commodore, PA and formerly of Hillsdale, PA and Pinellas Park, FL, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
The daughter of Frank Taft and Thelma T. (Keith) McCombs, she was born on April 3, 1933 in Commodore, PA
Barb graduated from Green Twp. High School in 1951.
She was a longtime member of the Purchase Line United Methodist Church. Barb loved attending church and Sunday School.
She married Henry Paul Lechner on June 19, 1954 and they shared almost sixty-two years of marriage until his death on April 17, 2016. Together they raised their four boys on the family dairy farm near Hillsdale.
Upon retirement, Barb and Henry moved to Pinellas Park, FL.
The highlight of Barb’s life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She thoroughly delighted in being with her great grandchildren.
She loved vegetable gardening. In more recent years, Barb enjoyed being with her friends at the Two Lick Valley Senior Center in Clymer, PA.
Barb is survived by her four sons: Ellsworth “Elzie” Paul Lechner and wife, Alice of Punxsutawney, PA; Donald Lynn Lechner and wife, Patti of Grovetown, GA; Duane “Dewey” Allen Lechner and wife, Tammy of Commodore, PA and Kevin Rodney Lechner and wife, Elizabeth of Glen Campbell, PA; eleven grandchildren: Seth Lechner; Stephen Lechner; Jonathan Lechner; Michael Lechner; Nathan Lechner; Lindsay Lechner Boykin; Abbey Lechner Romagna; Ashley Lechner Vance; Anthony Lechner; Alexander Lechner and Lucas Lechner; her twelve great grandchildren, who were the joy of her life: Olivia; Cameron; Lilly; Gracie; Cooper; Jaxson; Brooks; Bennett; Charlie; Kolt; Evelyn and Banks and her sister, Mona Lee May of Harrisburg, PA.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Henry.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Purchase Line United Methodist Church, Commodore, PA with Pastor Raymond Hill officiating. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, PA.
