The summer driving season could be the most expensive it has been in several years as gas prices are expected to increase further in the next few weeks.
AAA is expecting gasoline prices to jump 40 cents this summer, and with gas prices already at a high level in our region, that may make people think twice before heading out on any long road trips. The spike is expected to begin in April as the gas industry’s spring maintenance period ends and they switch over to summer blend gasoline.
Kathleen Miller with Triple-A Mid-Atlantic Region says Hurricane Harvey can also be to blame for the spike in gas prices.
Gas prices in Indiana County are already close to the $3.00 mark, with gas prices in Indiana County averaging at $2.89 a gallon.
