The Indiana School Board approved their contracts with a food service agency at last night’s meeting.
The board approved Chartwells as the district’s food service management company as they had the highest guarantee of profit, as they promised a profit of $100,000 for the district. That acts as a guarantee for the district as if they fall short of that promise, Chartwells will have to pay the difference to bring the profits to $100,000. The board also approved the school breakfast and lunch prices for next school year, with no increase in prices for lunches.
The board also got to meet this year’s International Leaders in Education Program, or ILEP fellows. Mike Reig, who introduced the board to the teachers last night, talked about why the program is important for the teachers and said that it gave teachers from other countries a chance to learn how things are done in another country, and the technology that is used in our schools.
The teachers come from several countries, including Morocco, the Phillipines, Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Bangladesh and Indonesia. After spending time here in Indiana, the teachers will also get to monitor how things are done at Brashear High School.
