The Indiana Area School Board meets tonight and will consider a motion to have the Academic and Extracurricular Committee and the Buildings, Ground, and Transportation Committee work with the Dr. Stephen Osborne and the IUP Small Business Institute and five graduating senior business students to “examine a number of questions related to the future” of the school district. The study will focus on the district’s size and facilities, with an emphasis on preparing students for the future job market. It would be done at no cost to the district.
The board will also consider a motion for a one-year contract to continue using Chartwells to provide food service to the district for the next school year, with a guarantee that the cafeteria services will generate a $100,000 profit. The deal would include no increase in prices for school lunches or breakfasts, and four one-year renewal options.
Purchase Line’s school board will also meet tonight. At last week’s work session, the board placed on tonight’s agenda a $427,700 high school window replacement project, and various personnel items including the hiring of a football coach, volleyball coach, and cross country coach.
