The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has released two reports: one, the annual performance review of the PLCB and the other the “Retail Year in Review”. The reports cover the 2016-2017 year-long liquor sales.
Overall, sales were up more than six percent for the year, including taxes, at about $2.44 billion. Vodka was the highest seller, by far, at $281 million, followed by bourbon, at $100.5 million.
Indiana County ranked 33rd in sales among the state’s 67 counties, although the county’s total sales actually dropped by 2.42 percent, to $9,013,161.
The top selling store in the county by a wide margin was at Townfair Plaza in White Township, ranked 120th out of 623 stores. 168,844 transactions there totaled $5,594,597.
The second-highest store in the county was the Philadelphia Street store in Indiana, which ranked number 442 with 61,731 transaction totaling $1,987,420.
The Blairsville store ranked 516th in the state, with 516 transactions for $1,280,858. The Clymer store was number 616 out of 623, with 7,918 sales worth $237,807.
Although Indiana County has just four liquor stores, there are 101 total retail liquor and malt beverage licenses in the county, including bars, restaurants, hotels, and clubs.
