An Indiana couple will be honored by the Greensburg Catholic Diocese at the annual Salt and Light awards dinner in April.
Thomas and Alice Zaucha of Indiana will be one of three recipients of the Salt and Light awards. The awards are handed out to people who exemplify catholic stewardship and service, according to Monseignor Raymond Riffle, the managing director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg. He said that each of the recipients does their charity work in “quiet, unassuming ways”, not to seek the spotlight or any personal recognition.
The Zauchas will receive the Salt and Light Philanthropy honor for serving a variety of ministries in the St. Thomas Moore university parish and Catholic Student Center. This includes their work on fundraising events as donors, leaders and promoters. Alice also works with the Grandmothers’ Corps, a group that works on parish projects to keep families and children in the church.
Others that will be honored include Paul Whalen of the St. Paul Parish in Greensburg, and the Westmoreland County Drug Overdose Task Force. The annual dinner will be held April 19th at the Stratigos Banquet Center in North Huntington.
