Indiana County President Judge William Martin has scheduled a hearing for later this month on omnibus pretrial motions filed by the attorney for Matthew McNevin, the 20-year-old Rayne Township man charged with killing one person and wounding another last March in a shooting during the IUPattys celebration on Oakland Avenue in Indiana Borough.
McNevin is charged with homicide, attempted homicide, two counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, plus receiving stolen property and a firearms violation. He’s accused of fatally shooting Carlos Recalde-Campos and wounding Samantha Riley on March 25th. He’d been feuding with Recalde-Campos and in a social media post, he is seen boasting that he was going to shoot the victim, who was known as “Adu.” The Snapchat video produced by Matthew Ohler Jr. of Indiana was titled, “Keep Running Adu”, and shows McNevin waving a gun around. According to police, the gun came from Ohler, who they said “buys and sells stolen guns”. Ohler also faces charges in the case.
In December, McNevin asked the court for a new attorney, citing “irreconcilable differences” with Public Defender Donald McKee, but it was McKee who last Friday filed the omnibus pretrial motions. The hearing on those motions will be on February 27th.
