A shed on the right-of-way was one of the main topics of discussion at last night’s meeting of Homer City Borough Council.
The shed in question is in the area of Schall Alley, and sits on the right of way, and that has been causing some issues. The shed was supposed to be moved off the right of way by January 20th, but the extreme winter weather that has been going through the area made that an impossibility. Jennifer Jaworski of Homer City Borough Council said that the deadline was pushed back to February 9th, and that attorneys for the property owner were agreeable to the new deadline.
If the structure is not removed from the right of way by the 9th, the property owners will be cited every day it’s still there.
In other business, the borough announced that they now have a prescription and over-the-counter drug drop box at the borough offices. The box was installed Monday and is meant to collect expired medicines to be disposed of properly to prevent pollution of water by flushing them down the toilet or to prevent those hooked on drugs from raiding garbage bags for them. The box is similar to the ones in at the police stations in Indiana and Blairsville boroughs and the one at the IUP Police department.
