Center Township Supervisors last night heard from someone who would like to have an ordinance dealing with dogs in the township.
A concerned citizen submitted the idea for the ordinance that would focus on some of the issues with dogs, including nuisance barking and cleaning up after a dog. The citizen gave the supervisors a copy of White Township’s dog ordinance as an example. Township Chairman David “Butch” Smyers said that there may be an ordinance already in the books, but they will look into the matter further.
In other business, the Supervisors gave their support to the area volunteer fire departments as many of them are holding fundraisers soon. Activities ranging from Bingo games to Sub Sales to Gun Bashes are being held by the various fire departments of Center Township, and John Bertolino said that it was important that people support the firefighters, as steady streams of income for these organizations are hard to come by.
It should be noted that all of the fire departments in Center Township are volunteer-based organizations.
