Richard M. Carnahan, age 75 of Clune, died Friday, February 2, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in 1942 in Shelocta to Marlin “Mac” and Vernie Lowrey Carnahan.
He was the founder of the Shelocta Sportsman Club, where he managed the stocking of Lake Smokey. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing at Parker Dam. Dick was an avid Pirate Baseball fan. His love of baseball stemmed from his time in the Cardinals Minor League system. He also served as Shelocta Little League coach.
Dick had served his country in the Army National Guard.
He was employed in the preventive maintenance department at Keystone Power Plant for Penelec for 32 years, where he was a member of the IBEW.
Dick is survived by one son and one daughter, William and wife Rori, Moon Twp.; Michele Ruddock and husband Dana, Moon Twp.; five grandchildren, Sean, Kennedy, Reagan, Owen, and Nolan; his former wife Sandy Carnahan, Moon Twp.; four siblings – Grace Shaeffer and husband Tom, Vandergrift; Patricia McConnell and husband Allan, Shelocta; Dorothy Cravener and husband Leonard, Shelocta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings – Gladys Miller, Maxine Thomas, Clark Wendell,m and Donald Carnahan, and Martha Walters.
Friends will be received on Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM with the Rev. Kathryn Ward Stear officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery.
