Former IUP volunteer assistant football coach Ty Holler yesterday pleaded guilty to reduced charges in a “sexting” case and was sentenced to three years of probation.
In a plea bargain, the 24-year-old Holler admitted guilt to two misdemeanor corruption of minors offenses, with the state withdrawing two felony charges of contact with a minor for sexual abuse and two misdemeanor counts of attempting to use or employ a minor to assist in activities for sexual purposes.
While attending IUP and working with the football team, Holler in 2014 and 2015 sent photos of a topless woman to two teenage Mount Pleasant High School football players, telling them about his sex life at IUP and asking for details about their sexual exploits. He said the woman wanted to be with them if they would reply with explicit pictures of themselves. He and the woman then met the older boy, who was 16, at a bar near IUP and the boy later sent a nude photo of himself and a video of himself having relations with a girl.
Holler’s attorney yesterday characterized his client’s actions as “locker room talk”.
The sentence imposed by Judge Rita Hathaway orders Holler to be supervised by the sex offender unit of the Westmoreland County Adult Probation Department. It verifies that the offenses are not Megan’s Law violations. He is ordered to have no contact with his victims, no unsupervised contact with minors except family members, and is not to be involved in coaching activities in school or the community involving minors.[xyz-ihs snippet=”ST-Bank-Debt-Consolidation”]
