Former IUP volunteer assistant football coach Ty Holler is due in Plea Court in Westmoreland County today to answer charges that he exchanged sexual text messages with two teenagers.
The 24-year-old Holler, who lives in Latrobe, will enter a plea to two counts each of communication with a minor for purposes of sexual abuse, hiring or using a minor to assist in a crime, and corruption of minors.
Holler is accused of sending texts to the two former Mount Pleasant High School football players, who were 15 and 16 years old at the time in 2014 and 2015, telling them about his sex life at IUP and asking for details about theirs. Investigators say he also sent the boys pictures of a topless woman, telling them she wanted to be with them if they would send explicit pictures of themselves.
Holler has claimed that a former girlfriend sent the texts while he was sleeping and that he no longer has her contact information. He testified at his preliminary hearing that he and the woman met the older boy at a bar near IUP and the boy later sent an unsolicited nude photo of himself and a video of himself having relations with a girl.
Holler’s trial was scheduled to begin January 8th, but he instead agreed to submit to Plea Court today.
