A question that’s been on everyone’s mind as of late is “When is the Blairsville Polar Plunge going to take place?” And as of right now, the date is still up in the air.
Ab Detorre of the Polar Plunge has said that the postponement of the plunge is because of the safety of those taking part and those who have come to watch. With the recent snow melt, and another melt expected to take place as temperatures get up into the 50’s, the amount of water that will be in the Conemaugh might make things a bit hazardous for the participants, plus the boat launch may be flooded, which means no setup area or bonfire area.
Detorre said that once they find a time that is hospitable for all, they will give a one-week notice on when the plunge will happen. This year’s plunge benefits the Teddy Bear Fund Drive, which makes donations to IRMC’s pediatrics and Children’s Hosptial in Pittsburgh.
