State police are searching for a Blacklick Township woman who may have been involved in the passing of “movie money”, fake $100 bills that are for use in the entertainment industry. The suspect was involved in a murder case in 2012, pleading guilty to a reduced charge of robbery.
33-year-old Tiffany Blattenberger is facing five criminal charges: for conspiracy to forgery and to possessing instruments of crime, for theft by deception, and for tampering with evidence and attempting to tamper with evidence. 33-year-old Mark Snyder of Connellsville was arraigned on Wednesday on similar charges and released on unsecured $10,000 bond.
Police say Blattenberger tried to pass a phony $100 bill at the BP convenience store along Route 982 in Derry Township on January 6th, asking for change to play the lottery machine, but when the clerk tested the bill and found it to be fake, Blattenberger fled and got into a car in which Snyder was waiting.
The fraudulent bill was clearly marked “Motion Picture Use Only”. There have been other incidents using those types of bills in both Westmoreland and Indiana counties.
Blattenberger was involved with three other people in a robbery that turned deadly in Derry Township in 2012. 24-year-old Michael Volk of West Wheatfield Township was killed by Ronell Moses during a drug deal. Moses is serving 11 to 22 years in prison for guilty pleas to voluntary manslaughter and kidnapping. Blattenberger is currently on parole, but a motion has been filed to revoke it, based on two other criminal cases against her, for forgery last August and receiving stolen property in 2014.
Anyone who knows her whereabouts is urged to call state police in either Greensburg or Indiana.
