Fred. R. Murdick, age 83, of Penn Run, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at his home.
He was born in 1934 to A. Glenn and Sara Palmer Murdick. Fred was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, Homer City, and the Senior Center, Clymer. He was also a volunteer for the Brush Valley Volunteer Fire Co.
He was employed by McCreary Tire and Rubber Co. in Indiana for 34 years. He was then employed by Long’s Mobile Home for 10 years.
He enjoyed hunting, traveling, eating out, and wood crafts. He is survived by his wife of 63 years – Dora M. Overdorff Murdick, Penn Run; one son – Gary A. and wife Vicky, Homer City; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters – Connie Plowman and husband Larry, Butler; Audrey Long and husband Harry, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his son Dennis Murdick, his granddaughter Melissa Murdick, and a brother Richard Murdick.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will begin at 7 P.M. with the Rev. Steve Bond officiating.
Interment will be private.
